Mrs. Chris Wehrli
Mother Advisor

A little about Mrs. Wehrli in her own words:

I am very honored to be serving as Mother Advisor of Sunshine Assembly!

I was a member of Oak Park Assembly #20 back in the 70’s, and I was installed as Worthy Advisor on October 3, 1970.  I was elected Grand Faith in 1972 and was part of Gretchen Furstenau’s Grand Family 1972-1973.  I served as Sister of Victory for the Grand Cross of Color team 1973-1974.

As an adult I was active with Herschel Clark Assembly, which used to be in Plainfield, beginning in 1977.  I served on their Advisory Board and was chairman for many years.  I used to drag my older daughter, Ginny (who was only 2 or 3 at the time), to installations and anything else that she would sit through!  A few years after my younger daughter, Vicky, was born I resigned from Herschel Clark’s board to devote my full time attention to raising both girls.  When Ginny became of age to join Rainbow, I contacted Mrs. McCluskey, to join Sunshine Assembly and become active in Rainbow again.  I was in Rainbow with Mrs. McCluskey’s older daughter, Phyllis Ann.  Actually, I was an officer for the initiation and installation of Sunshine Assembly in 1972, when Phyllis Ann was installed as the first Worthy Advisor of Sunshine Assembly.

So my roots with Sunshine go a long way back!

Today I see in Sunshine Assembly a group of adults and girls who are committed to service and teamwork.  Rainbow can never be about just one person – the focus is always on others.  If we make it about ourselves, we taint the beautiful lessons being taught.  Our assembly is made up of strong, capable leaders, and our younger girls are capable of becoming those leaders in the future.  The poise and confidence of our girls is unbelievable, and I am inspired by their dedication and commitment to this organization.

I’m very excited about all of the upcoming activities that are planned.  If you have any questions about Rainbow, Sunshine’s activities, or how to become a member, please feel free to contact me at veggiema@ameritech.net
